First Graders play a song with out a conductor!!

We are growing so much in 1st grade! We began the year playing our BoomWhacker Mysteries with Mrs. Muench conducting or pointing to the icons as they went by. Then we grew a little and had a student point instead of Mrs. Muench. We called that “driving the bus”. But today something truly amazing happened in 1B. They played a BoomWhacker Mystery with out anyone pointing at the icons on the SMARTboard. This means that each student had to follow the icons on their own. Way cool!! Watch the video to see us figuring it out.

1st Grade Valentine’s Day Songs

Each class of 1st grade composed their own song for Valentine’s day on the BoomWhackers. The class was given the empty plan and added colors (BoomWhacker pitches) and rhythms to match the words to the poem. Then we practiced playing our songs.
